BVSTools.com now Running on our own Model 515

Late in 2007 BVSTools took advantage of IBM's Partnerworld offerings to software vendors and purchased a model 515 for product development and for running our web page.

This has allowed us to offer even better and faster support!

This also means that, because we are running OS V5R4, the oldest release for our software will move from the current V4R5 to V5R1. We of course will still offer older versions of our software to customers that require an earlier release.

Looking for Help with your Project?

For years, along with providing software solutions, BVSTools.com has also provided valuable consulting and custom software for it's customers.

Projects have ranged from assisting with setting up Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) on the customer's machine to creating large web based applications that run on their iSeries and use RPG.

Our rates are very affordable and most of the work can be done off-site, which saves time and expenses for everyone.

We have also created custom software solutions as well as provided on-site training and spoken with local user groups on a variety of subjects such as:

  • RPG CGI Programming
  • The CGIDEV2 and eRPGSDK Toolkits
  • Advanced RPG Programming
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) setup for both client and server applications
  • HTTP Server Setup
  • SOAP/XML and Web Services
  • Sytem i email configuration
  • General AS/400 Related application programming

No project is too small, and no project is too large. BVSTools.com has contacts with many other independent colleagues/partners to provide service for a variety of topics.

MAILTOOL Updates

MAILTOOL received an update in v6.07 that allows you now to supply a value for a footer in emails sent using the MAILTOOL Product.

This enhancement was added because of customer requests. A lot of our customers have standard footers that they wish to include in all emails.

Using the new FOOTER parameter in MAILTOOL users are now able to specify the location of an IFS file that contains a preformatted footer that can be included in emails sent using the MAILTOOL product.

BVSTools encourages customers to submit ideas they have for improving any of our software!

You can download the latest version of MAILTOOL by clicking here.

BVSTools.com Software is Ready for V6R1

BVSTools would like to let it's customers know that if you are planning on upgrading to V6R1 that our software is ready!

Using the IBM supplied Analyze Object Conversion (ANZOBJCVN) command running on V5R4 we have tested the following software offerings for V6R1 readiness:

Featured Testimonial

"We were struggling with untangling the mess of understanding and controlling FTP and writing exit programs to process what we received. FTPTOOL simplified the process 1000%. Easy to install and set up and supported by a software vendor who really cares. Wish all software vendors were as easy to deal with and as supportive!"

FAQ Snap Shot Featured Software

This week's FAQ Snap Shot is taken from the MAILTOOL FAQ page located at https://docs.bvstools.com/home.

Q:How do you force a new line or a paragraph using MAILTOOL and the Message Parameter?

A: Using the \n character sequence will force a new line, so using two of them can also force a new paragraph. This only applys to text that is entered on the message parameter of the MAILTOOL command.

More FAQs can be found at https://www.bvstools.com/faq.html. FAQs specific to software can be found in the software documentation section at https://docs.bvstools.com/home.

FTP Tool (FTPTOOL) - FTP Server Security

FTP Tool (FTPTOOL) was created because of the need to add an extra layer of security to FTP servers running on System i (As/400) machines.

Unless you have set up very strict object/directory level access to libraries or IFS files you may leave sensitive data exposed to users.

FTPTOOL allows you to set up security at a user and/or directory level using a simple intuitive interface.

FTPTOOL also offers other features such as setting up "triggers" to run when FTP commands are run, anonymous logon, and FTP logging.

FTPTOOL is also a 100% iSeries native application!

As with any software, if there are any features you would like to see added, feel free to contact us with your request!

For more information on FTPTOOL, feel free to visit https://www.bvstools.com/ftptool/html or contact us directly.
