BVSTools  Mobile/Responsive Site Now Available

BVSTools has set up a Mobile/Responsive site for it's customers.  This will not only allow a better experiece on mobile devices but the features such as requesting a temporary key or a quote/invoice have been made a lot easier to use as well.

The new site can be seen at https://m.bvstools.com.

If you visit our main site using a device with a smaller screen (such as a phone or tablet) you will asked if you wish to view the mobile site instead.

Let us know what you think of the new mobile/responsive site and if you have any issues!

FieldExit.com Forums - Growing Support

Earlier last year we put together the site FieldExit.com.  This was meant to allow BVSTools (as well as anyone else) to share real world experiences, provide proof of concept (POC) articles as well as provide support for customers and users.

We've been trying to get as much information as possible on this site to make things easier for our customers as well as provide examples of real projects we're working on with other customers.

We've now added the ability to sign on with a Google ID.  This means you don't have to go through the normal process of signing up, clicking on a link in an email to verify your identity, and worst of all, remember one more password.

Instead, just click on the "Sign in with Google" link on the top of the page or on the Sign In page and you will be able to sign in with your Google ID.

There also is a search option for the site which is powered by Google that makes searching for relevent content very easy!

Celebrating 20 Years!

Yes, it's hard to believe it's been over 20 years since we started creating appcliations for the IBM i (then, known as the AS/400) system.  But, we were recently reminded when a customer requested license keys for a system they puchased SPLTOOL for in 1997!

Thanks to each and every customer for your support over the years!
MAILTOOL and GETURI get SSL Updates

By now we've all heard of the HeartBleed issues with SSL and the confusion it's caused, forcing a lot of companies to upgrade to using SSL/TLS v1.1 or higher to be compliant with internal or other regulations regaring SSL.

I've had many customers also contact us asking if our software (such as GETURI and MAILTOOL) will work with these updates.

Because our SSL processing is done using IBM APIs, the answer is "it will if the IBM SSL APIs are able to use the new standards".

While in most cases things have worked fine, we have run into a couple situations (mainly on V7R1) where a small update was required because of what looks like an over site in the SSL APIs.

We covered this issue in detail in this FieldExit.com Post.  Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, but rest assured that we added the ability to our software to get around the issue in the IBM SSL APIs.

GreenTools For Microsoft - Upload to Onedrive From your IBM i!

We have now added a new application that will allow you to upload files from your IBM i (AS/400, iSeries, etc) directly to a OneDrive account.  This is made possible with the new GreenTools for Microsoft Apps offering.

We personally are using this along with the GreenTools for Google Apps to backup our important information to the "Cloud" and have written an article about it at FieldExit.com.

Feel free to contact us with any questions about this new offering!

Download Email from GMail with GreenTools for Google Apps

We have recently released a new addon for the GreenTools for Google Apps product which allows you to download email from any GMail account, even GMail for Business.

With this new addon (named G4GGMAIL) each email that is downloaded will be split up into email text, any embedded images as well as any attachments.  Each of these pieces will be available for your application once the email is successfully downloaded.

We've written a small article at FieldExit.com about this new feature.

If you would no longer wish to receive a newsletter from BVSTools.com, simply reply to this email with the word REMOVE in the body.
