BVSTools Switches ISPs

Recently in our area a new ISP came into town promising very high speeds wirelessly using 4G technology. We couldn't pass this up as our old ISP was limited to pretty slow speeds.

The transition was a bit bumpy as most ISP changes are. They are also still working out some bugs and trying to set up more fall over methods for when/if the service goes out.

From time to time you may be redirected to our backup web page when our ISP is having issues, or we have a power outage.

Thank you for sticking with us during these "growing pains".

New PDF Functionality Added to SPLTOOL

SPLTOOL v9.60 is now available that adds the following features when creating PDF documents:

  • PDF Concatenation - Easily combine PDF files into one PDF document, including PDF files created by AFPTOOL. You can also combine any PDF files using the PDFCAT command.

These features were requested by many of our customers and continue to evolve with customer input.

Software and V7R1 Compatibilty

We receive quite a few emails regarding OS upgrades and software compatibility. So far all of our software has been tested at the latest OS release and proven functional.

IBM's Virtual Loaner program is a great feature for ISVs like us as it allows us to set up a virtual machine at the latest OS to restore and test our software.

As always, if you ever do encounter any issues do feel free to contact us.

FAQ Snap ShotFeatured Software

This week's FAQ Snap Shot is taken from the main FAQ page located at https://www.bvstools.com/faq.html.

How do I determine the version of your software that I am using?

Note: The latest releases of SPLTOOL, AFPTOOL, MAILTOOL and GETURI now store the versions in data areas named SPLTOOLV, AFPTOOLV, MAILTOOLV and GETURIV (respectively). As other software is updated the version will move to data areas as well.

With any of our software, simply type the command on the command line, prompt on it, then move the cursor to the top line and press the help key. There you will see the version as well as contact information.

The OUTQTRG application is one exception. To find the version of this application simply type GO OUTQTRG on the command line and the version will be displayed at the top of the OUTQTRG menu display.

Example of finding the version for the SPLTOOL Software:

1. Type the command SPLTOOL on the command line (do NOT press Enter)
2. Press F4 to prompt
3. Move the cursor to the top of the command display. In this case it would be where it says "Spooled File Tools (SPLTOOL)"
4. Press your help key. The version should now be displayed on the screen.
